Is the FL-820S just a shorter version of the FL-1A, but with a silicone ADBV?

This is by memory, but no. I believe the FL-820S is metric, like a M22 thread vs the 3/4"x16 of the FL-1A. A short version of the FL-1A would be a cross from the Fram PH16 used on a number of Chrysler products. (excuse the Fram number, I have most of those memorized.
The FL-820S is used on the mod motors.

The shorter, slightly smaller version of the FL-1A is the FL-400S.
I know the FL1A fits the old OHV Ford 5.0, like the Fram PH8A. I don't know if they even have a anti drain back valve. The FL400 fit the old OHV 3.0.

Thanx BW, I knew this. But I was not sure about the FL-820S.
I think I was confusing myself with the FL-500S and the FL-820S.

The FL-200S was used on my 1996 Zetec 4. It has been discontinued by Ford. Ford says to use the FL-300 as it's substitute. This filter has a nitrile ADBV unlike the FL-200S which had a silicone ADBV.
