I currently have them in 20MM ammo cans with a large desiccant container in each one stored in 70-72 degree atmosphere. I have had them for about 10 years or so and loaded with some of them about 3 years ago and they fired just fine.

What are the thoughts about long term storage of primers like this? Anyone have any thoughts on total shelf life? Obviously, loaded ammo from the 1950s is still being fired, but how about the primers?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Should be nearly forever if stored well. Your storage sounds good.

I have a large stash of primers from about 20 years ago when I used to load. They are still in their factory cases, stored inside.

I hope they still work...

Thanks Tempest. I stocked up before the last big run and I wanted to be sure that I am keeping them in viable condition. I wish I would have bought more, but as they become available now (at normal prices) I am adding to the supply. I scored 5000 Winchester WLRs yesterday and thought I should confirm my storage is good before adding them to the collection.
