Hey guys,
Just getting curious about silicone grease... It seems to be the grease of choice for rubber applications (brake caliper slides, seals, weatherstripping, bushings, etc.), but what is it exactly?
Sil-Glyde is marketed as a silcone grease, but the MSDS says it is polypropylene glycol oil thickened with fumed silica.
Super-Lube MP grease with PTFE is PAO in fumed silica.
Super-Lube Silicone break grease lists Polydimethylsiloxane.
3M Silicone Paste also lists Polydimethylsiloxane.
Is the siloxane the true silicone oil? And is 3M the preferred product here?
Thanks.
