Best way to remove window tint?

Soak papers towels in ammonia and stick to tint on a hit day. Keeping it wet weigh spray bottle. After 1-2 hours it should pretty much peel right off.

I've also cut trash bags to cover the wet paper towels to keep ammonia on the tint....makes a strong vapor solvent atmosphere.

Pros use water with a little baby soap for lube and they scrape the glass with a razor blade.

Glass with defrosters are tricky. A razor blade will cut a defroster line and then the whole glass needs to be replaced.

The guy I know scrubs it with a fine sos pad.

no.... the defroster lines can be repaired. there's a whole slew of products on the market (mostly conductive paint)for this purpose.
any of these should do the trick.

once you've found the gap, mask off the glass either side of the line, and just paint over the gap.

my last 2 cars had @ least one line that didn't work in the grid. on the one car, on a few occasions i actually saw small arcs jumping the gap( if it was REALLY fogged up..)
never got around to actually fixing the grids on either car.

Get water good and hot it will come off easy. Be careful with the rear window, take extra time there or you may damage the defroster grid.
Does it have to be steam or would a hair dryer work?

Also, I don't have to worry about damaging the rear defroster, the S-10 doesn't have one!

I took my daughters off with a clothes steamer and a razor blade. That is what the professionals use. Took about 10-20 minutes each window .
you only need the blade to get started on an edge.
You didn't hear it from me , but you can buy the steamer and return it same day.
Wasn't what you wanted.

I have done this many times and heating it up does help. Try peeling it off, there will always be some residue left. The best thing to remove the glue is acetone, it wipes it off like fingerprints with windex. Of course be careful not to drip the acetone on anything that can be damaged by it. Coming from someone who worked at a dealership and had to do this many times, this is the best way to do it. It may be a bit strong for rear defrost but since you do not have any then it is not an issue.

Razor blades will scratch the window glass, quite easily I might add. Even if sharp.

I'd avoid razor blades if at all possible.

If you steam it really good it just melts the glue. Hou can try a drier, if you arent worried about defroster grid you have nothing to lose except a little time

Usually the decent films are lifetime warranty if you have the receipt. Some brands do not cover the labor though.

News to me, I scraped 100s of windows and haven't damaged one yet... I suppose if the blade had some nicks or jagged edge it would be possible...
