Clevy said that Skyship in eight months here had almost as many posts as he did after he had been here years. So Skyship may not be able to resist coming back. Once somebody has the bitgo bug you can't leave too easily. Unless you do something wrong of course and get escorted out of the door.
During the time Skyship was here his message was for the most part read the owner's manual, use high quality motor oil, and about the only engine cleaners that Skyship seemed to approve of were idle only engine flushes. And he wanted for those idle only engine flushes to have approved chemicals.
But by the time he left he was talking about testing some oil supplement (apparently Ceretec) and for humor or for whatever reason was saying that gold dust was the next big anti-wear additive and that people could use 40 weight oil with no additives to test additives.
If he just would have stayed with his main message that people should read the owner's manual and use high quality motor oil I would have had more respect for him. Although I still would have wondered why he was in the Oil Additives Section. But he did, in fact, stray from his main course. And some of what he said (maybe an attempt at humor) was so unlikely that for me it greatly reduced his credibility. I am talking about stuff like the gold dust oil additive story, the guy testing additives in 30 weight oil, and Skyship supposedly being invited on a bus that was being used to test new transmission fluids. In my opinion all of these stories are extremely unlikely.
So for me in the end I did find some of the stuff Skyship said to be funny and I enjoyed some of his posts, but to be perfectly honest I did not find him to be credible. Maybe he was trying to be humorous in some of his posts and maybe he thought people here would believe anything. But people here actually question a lot of things. People here do not automatically believe any claims made by the maker of an engine cleaner or an oil supplement.
I think I will always remember some of Skyship's posts. I think I will always remember the gold dust oil additive, the testing of additives in 30 weight or 40 weight oil, and of course Skyship riding on the bus that was being used to test new transmission fluids.
If Skyship really is gone for good I think my final memory of Skyship will be him riding in the bus down the road, talking to the chaps, testing new transmission fluids, and disappearing in the distance.
