VSOT dose from those getting the mpg boost.

Hi

Its hard to say.
Previous to the M1 & VSOT fill, the car ran Havoline 10w-30 and FC20. It ran much smoother and "stronger" than the previous fills of GC.

Once the M1/ Valvo mix was added, it seemed a little sluggish but mileage began climbing.

I cleaned the MAF last night, and the drive home seemed more like the Havoline fill...lively throttle response.
I will drive another 150 miles today so will check in later with mpg.

Hi

After gassing up last night, driving 50 miles home and then driving 140 odd miles today here is today's tally:

192.1 miles on 6.639 gal = 28.94 mpg.

As it has been since this crisis, no A/C, easy driving, tires are now inflated to 35lbs plus the M1 and additives.

I cant say what has done what as some things were done at same time, but compared with mileage of past 2 yrs over the same routes, it is better.

The MAF cleaning makes the car feel as it did with Havoline and LC20/LP60.

I would recommend anyone clean a MAF that has near 100k on it as well as replace O2 sensor as they do get lazy with miles.

I decided to add the entire can of VSOT since I live in a very hot weather, lets see how it keeps up. So far nothing to report except black **** coming out of my tailpipe with water

My daughter just drove ~ 500 miles, Vail, CO to Jackson Hole, WY, in her 2005 Subaru Outback 2.5i Liter NA 5 speed.

While she was here, I added 4 oz VSOT, 4 oz LC20, and 3 oz FP60 to the Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W-30.

And I gave here some FP60 to take with her. That's how I learned that the Lube Control measuring bottle can't be refilled.

Even with a full load of bikes and luggage she had one tank at 36 mpg. And her 500 mile average was over 32 mpg.

Before she left she drive Denver, CO to Vail, CO and with all the uphill driving averaged 30.3 mpg.

I can't complain about that.

I also just spoke with a friend and he told me the VSOT, LC20 and FP60 I put in the way his older Bronco made a huge difference almost immediately.

He was really happy with the results.

I stick with what Molecule recommeded. One oz per quart with 10w30 Mobil 1 5 quart sump. I checked my mileage over 1,000 miles each with and without and found the difference to be within one standard deviation. I could detect no meaningfull difference.

I really wonder how much is from freeing up the ring pack after my experiment with my 4.6 mod motor. All the vehicles I have tried it on were not new by any means.

I could imagine that 40% , 50% or more could be from freeing up the ring pack, and maybe 30% or more from the FP60. But it seems like the VSOT deserves some credit.

A more difficult theory would be that perhaps the LC20 helps the VSOT to lay down a new or better coating of friction modifiers.

Hi

I started using FC20 and FP60 a week before the VSOT.

During that week, my mpg stayed about exactly where it has always been and only went up after the VSOT.

When the FP60 runs out, I dont think I will be reordering anymore altho the VSOT looks to be a repeat performance, just maybe not the whole bottle next oil fill.

I will continue the LC20 as well.

I didn't use more than 1 oz / quart and I thought it worked well.

I might try that amount at each oil change and add .5 oz VSOT, and 1 oz LC20 every thousand miles, but continue with the FP60.

Hi

Today, I have driven 1000 miles since last weds. ALthough LC20 is supposed to be "re invigorated" with a 1oz. top off, the level on dipstick reads full.

However, oil is somewhat dark compared to GC at same miles.

Todays mileage was 27.83 with 25miles of A/C and 30% city driving..lots of stopo/go due to construction and heavy traffic.

Gas is still $3.399 here.

"Gas is still $3.399 here. "

How is it that every part of the US seems to have jacked up to the same prices?

There was a huge price difference before, town to town, State to State.

Hi

We had it as high as 3.699 on Fri, but that was an isolated "chain" store. It now has mimicked its surrounding competitors.

Some stations on the coast have reportedly dropped theirs to $2.999 tonight..so maybe its on the way back down.

Just a year ago, fuel was about $1.679. That sounds so dirt cheap now.

Hi

*Update*

So far, I would have to say next to no gain by any of these additives.

I would suggest that the 1mpg average increase, is due to higher inflation pressures and no A/C.

Too bad!

I'd still show improved mileage here and smoother running engines.

I ordered more LC20 and FP60, and I bought more VSOT... so I put my money where my mouth is!

Hi

Perhaps adding the VSOT one oz per qt is the ticket. I used the whole bottle.. so perhaps M1 has thickened out of grade...a 40wt????

Hi

Here is September so far. M1 10w-30 with VSOT,FC20, and FP60 began 8/31/05. Mostly, A/C was used sparingly.
