Just thought I would post up a link to a UK based company called Comma's spec sheet for the A5/B5 5w30 full synth that is going in the Volvo this weekend.

First time since I owned it that I haven't used Castrol Magnatec 5w30 A5/B5.

A shade over £25 for litres so significantly cheaper than Magnatec.

Considering running it 7/8k.

It is not what I would call a premium product but has a good reputation in the Independant motor trade.

Hope the link works.

If you are doing a UOA Blackstones might offer a free VOA for this cheap synthetic as they probably don't have one on file, then with a UOA including the TBN, we can see if it's any good, or another shear prone or sludger oil.

Comma have a decent reputation in the UK, price point is round about the same as Fuchs.

Used the 5w40 Syner D product many years ago in a BMW diesel engined Omega.

That particular car was full synth only, fairly rare back in '96 when it was made and in '99-'01 when I owned the car.

Put about 90k miles on that car in two years.

As I mentioned before that car used Mobil 1 0w40, nearly a litre a month/4000 miles, oil use stopped or slowed to the point top ups were not needed anymore.

Even though Comma is relatively unknown in other markets it is not new in the UK.

Funnily enough I bought this oil in the same little specialist part place I bought the Syner D!

Wag Bennett!

Will see what is left after the OCI there may be some left to allow a VOA.

If I sample the oil in the Volvo and send a VOA that will be the last of my sample containers so it will be time to send them all to Blackstone.
