So I was at my local ford dealer today and was getting my oil changed (my own pureolater filter and amsoil) and tires rotated, and the service manager tells me about this product he called BG, from BGFINDASHOP .

I have never heard about this product, but he is telling me how great Motorcraft Full Syn is, and how they add this additive and then it warrants my engine. Personally, I feel like they are blowing smoke up my @$$, and trying to give me colon cancer, but I thought I would ask the experts on here.

I didn't find anything with a quick search, so I am just wondering is this stuff any good? Thanks for the advice all, I value your opinions a lot!

Joe

To me BG products are garbage. He was effectively trying to infect you with colon cancer. They're basically a home alchemy set purported to make any OEM transmission fluid out of their cheap substandard base fluid and some of their mega super extra special powdered unicorn horn sauce.

BG stuff is good, but its a sale add-on to their machines in many cases. What specific product? Your link was general.

For example, you go in to get a transmission flush. They have a BG machine. They add BG cleaner, let the car idle for 30 minutes, then flush, then add BG conditioner and charge you $10 extra for each of the two products on top of a flush. Were it me, I would skip the products.

They may have a BG fuel injection cleaner and use a BG product for that. If your engine needs a fuel injector cleaning, then that product might be reasonable.

I know that a few shops around here use BG oil as their shop-brand oil. Could just be because it's the cheapest... although I don't really know that I guess. I saw a post from someone in Georgia I think it was, he ONLY used BG products in his car, went far out of his way to get them. Seemed more than a little strange, IMO. I would pass.

I am kind of hungry, does this go on burgers or do you dip your fries in it?

The guy was trying to sell me their MOA oil additive. I found THIS video on youtube that the guy was telling me about. I swear I have seen this before YEARS AGO on a infomercial for slick 50 or something.

I am not sold on this, just wondering how much [censored] this stuff is!?!?

Fuel additives sometimes work, but BG oil additives are just designed to do one thing and that is make money the old snake oil way.

BG makes a huge variety of products. They have a throttle body cleaner that works on plastic throttle bodies that can't be cleaned with conventional stuff, they have an excellent penetrating oil, and a variety of other things. They also supply the repair shop with high quality machinery to use the supplied chemicals.

That in mind, they also sell additives that are supposed to turn engine oil into some super oil, but that is totally a waste. The right engine oil has everything it needs and nothing it doesn't need.

I think what confuses many folks is that some companies that make good products like Liqui Moly, Lubriguard and even BG also make some real rubbish just to make money. They also fail to explain what some of their additives should be used for and the risk factors involved if applicable.

I have been using BG products in my vehicle since before 36000. They do offer a warranty with the products if you begin using them before that mileage. Using the MOA every 7500 (i believe) they will put 4000$ towards the engine if anything on the lubricated parts side of it fails for the ENTIRE life of the vehicle as long as you have used it every change and at an interval before 7500. Honestly the 15$ a can at the local shop is pretty cheap IMO to get this kind of protection.

I personally have not had to make a claim but I had a friend who had a problem with his transmission, now they will only put 2000$ towards that but he took it in, they called BG, and they paid for it on the spot. Seems pretty legit to me.

If their additives were real good one of the major oil companies would either give them an exclusive contract for their new high tech additive, produce the same product after paying for the rights or simply buy the company. If they can get some real good full manufacturers approvals (Both Lubriguard and Liqui Moly have a few minor ones) they might expand into a mainstream additives or engine oil company, but at present they are just another snake oil player, although if they did honour a transmission warranty that might help towards improving their present STP standard image, as it's rare for such types of warranty to work.
