I've compiled the results for 2012 from the Post your latest oil change thread.

Just a few notes:
Mobil 1 includes all variations of Mobil 1. I felt that they were all to similar, so I didn't try to separate them.

Also, I didn't include any oils that were only used once.

When brands are combined, Mobil tops the list for 2012 at 223 oil changes, followed by Pennzoil at 168, and Valvoline at 127.

A few questions. Pennzoil YB is listed at #4, and Pennzoil conventional is listed at #23. Would these be the same thing under different names? Also, looking at Valvoline MaxLife at #4, and Valvoline NextGen at #7, does the MaxLife number include NextGen Maxlife?

In any case, thanks for compiling this.

43,653 members.
Roughly 1,000 in the poll.
Generally, expensive oils top the list.
I think those who use premium oils like to announce it, and most others could care less.
More accurate and useful data would be from the mfrs. sales.

Yes, this is entirely unscientific, but fun. I found it interesting that there is someone else who used Meijer High Mileage oil besides me.

I don't agree as a lot of people on the forum use cheap dino of whatever kind is on same and are happy to say so.

I think this just shows that in fact the majority of Bitogers are happy to pay that little bit more for a quality product.

And out of those 43,653 only 1% are probably regulars and not one post wonders.

You're right. Not being a Pennzoil user I didn't catch that.

Not really a big difference though if we combine them.

Valvoline Maxlife does not include Nextgen Maxlife. That is how it was done last year, so I kept it the same.

Yea, I estimate it took me around 6 hours!

Thanks for the effort!

While certainly not reflective of the public at large, it's interesting to see what BITOG'er's are using.

I noticed you have Castrol Edge and Syntec listed separately though, it's the same oil though referred to by different names.

Thank you again. You've inspired me to bother to post my OCI's for 2013.

Are these statistics gathered from the "Post your latest oil change thread?"
