Hi everyone, I have 2 cat oil filters that are the same thread and diameter as my oe filter for my 06 dakota 4.7. Does anyone see any harm in using these filters. It will require me to put more oil in cause the cat filter is about an inch and a half or more longer.

Make sure it doesn't hit anything. I put a k&N oversize on my neon and it was actually rubbing on the drain plug. It was clear on install. It poked a hole in it after 1500 miles. Easy catch but could have been very ugly.

Check the bypass & gasket specs on both the stock and Cat filters to be sure they are compatible.

Otherwise no problem running a longer filter if you safely have room for it.

You sure this will fit on a car? These are monster two quart filters.

I run the wix 7791 on gmc 7500 below which calls for a 1798. The 1798 is a 1 quart as opposed to the 2qts above but has a much worse beta. If it will fit you could essentially run an extremely efficient full flow filter with the Wix 1791xe but they are a little pricey(not to bad). The 7791 is a good compromise for my application when price/improved performance over stock/oci are considered.
