this is my first UOA, 2nd oil change w/ Rotella T3 15-40, Motorcraft FL-1995 filter. 1 qt. make up oil. 4,850 miles on sump load.

Blackstone's comments---Wear metals are nice and low. wear is below average. there are no unusual problems developing in the engine.
Insolubles are nice and low, showing good filtration, and there are no signs of moisture, dirt, or other contaminants.

Excellent oil and filter choice appears to have yielded an outstanding UOA! Thanks for sharing.

I would have no problems running this combo 7,500mi if driving habit / conditions are not too severe.

You really need to know the TBN before you consider extending it.

Not bad for free! I'd run it a bit longer next time... How bad would the TBN be in all actuality?

That lube is fine for extended use, the old 7.3 hasn't even sheared it out of 40wt yet. I know that the 7.3 OCI was 5,000mi.,but that was when CH-4 oil was just getting into our hands, along with high sulfur fuel or LSD.

There is really something to be said for USLD used with the combination of the newer formulations of motor oil, either CI-4+ or CJ-4 with these legacy powerplants.

Easily could go to 7.5k miles with no hesitation whatsoever.

The 7.3L psd is a good ol' engine and with this one only at 123k miles, should last him a LONG time.

i believe as long as i can keep getting good oil at a good price i'll keep changing @ 5k. With having the UOA ran i feel good about if i do have to extend my OC 1-2k miles, it won't hurt anything. i have 5 more free gallons of T3, ready to use.
