friends van
he was in CT visiting his daughter and his wife was down here.
regardless it all started when she said the oil light came on and she called him. He said there was the oil hes been using in the back of the van.

We grabbed the bottle and the idiot was using 20w50 in it.
He said it was leaking oil, lol

We learned that the reason it was leaking oil is cause the oil filter gasket was bad. Apparently the last 15,000 miles they have been topping off without checking the Filter.

anyway Out: Sunoco 20w50, Napa Pro Choice filter

Thank you for lovingly caring for the old Buick "Nail Valve" engine. From time to time, feel free to visit at the following website...

There is a section devoted to the Nailheads. Very friendly people over there who love their Buicks.

dad's Cub Cadet Mower w/20hp Kohler engine

out: 1.6qt QSAD 10w30, Kohler oil filter
in: 1.6 qt QSAD 10w30, Wix 51348

kohler says to change oil & filter every 100hrs. Cub says every 50 hrs. oi!
and i know you really can't tell anything(condition wise) by looking @ oil, but that QSAD with 52 hrs on it looked like it had just come out of the bottle...
but since it's dads mower, and its less than a yr old, i'll follow the instructions....
...grumble grumble waste of good oil grumble grumble...

This was my grandfather's car bought new in Nov. 1961 and used until his death in early 1983. I've slightly restored it, but only to the condition he used it in. Did a few minor upgrades to ignition and brakes, but otherwise it's all 1962 spec. installed Pertronix Ignitor ignition and upgraded the brake lines to stainless steel with braided stainless hoses. With all the road work around here lately, i haven't driven it as much as I normally do this year.

Just did my oil change night before last with 3,000 miles on Castrol Edge W/Titanium and a K&N oil filter and now I am running Amsoil 5W30 Signature Series and an Amsoil Ea15K29 oil filter. I also changed my drain plug again to one of those Dorman EZ drain plugs and like it a lot and no leaks with this one so far either. With the new plug I can take samples and send them in for analysis without having to completely drain all the oil!

2010 Acura TL just got 1 qt. Mobil 1 0W-40 and 3.5 qts Toyota 0W-20. Another PureOne PL14610, and a new magnetic drain plug. The new drain plulg has a much weaker magnet than the previous one, which was a goldplug, but I stripped the heck out of it trying to remove it with the wrong tools from an odd angle.

It burned a little more oil than I cared for on the previous fill of RP 5W-20, that's why I went with the quart of M1 0W-40 to thicken up the TGMO 0W-20. Also stopped trusting the girlfriend to check her own oil level and added it to my list of weekly chores.

In: Valvoline Durablend 5w-30/Shell Helix Ultra 5w-40 SL & WIX 57145 (should make 62.64/11.5=181)

Had 1L of the old SL 5w-40 helix lying around the garage so I chucked it in with the durablend to thicken it up a bit. The old girl is starting to feel her age
