Well, we're not that cheap here. The best non rollback price I can get on regular M1 in a jug works out to $8.18 per litre. Litres are significantly more.

We also have to remember when we're comparing prices to do as was done a few posts above - equal size containers at the same store. I can cherry pick prices and locations, too, and make it look like Walmart is the worst place to buy conventional oil in the entire country. After all, their normal, non-discounted price is significantly higher than plenty of local stores.

I can also show, by being creative, that Amsoil is cheaper than Synpower. Walmart is cheap, but only when they want to be. They don't have VWB on for $11.99 or whatever it is this week to do you or me any favours. And I guarantee that the local parts store doesn't get it from their suppliers for anywhere near that low.

One parts store here that carries both M1 and RP in the larger jugs has a fairly negligible difference between the two when both are at regular prices.

That's why I have a huge problem with comparing oil prices, particularly when rollbacks are ongoing. At least up here, if a synthetic is on a good sale, it's going to disappear fast. That's even happening at Walmart these days. If it's at CT, and you're not there the first morning, you can kiss the deal goodbye.

Why would RP even post those, lol.

To the average consumer those mean nothing, to the enthusiast or aficionado these are reputation breaking. What target audience are these for?

(Notice I am only questioning RP marketing division not their oil or anything, chill)

If RP had the WM 5 quart jug price,I`d be all over it! Like I said earlier,I used to be able to get it at $6 a quart. At $10+shipping for HPS,no way! If M1 didn`t come in the WM 5 quart jugs,I wouldn`t be using it,ever. There`s no way I`d ever pay $9 a quart for M1.

I don't have much experience with RP engine oils, but I have used their Max ATF with great success in multiple vehicles. It made a dramatic improvement in the operation of our 2008 Accord transmission and a friend's Acura MDX.

I have also used their Syntractor III universal torque fluid in compact tractors and noticed a reduction in noise from the hydraulic/hydrostatic system. I don't remember the cost of that product, but it was easy enough to get...I called a distributor of the industrial product line and they sent me two pails with a 30 day invoice.

As I posted to you last week I will not walk into a auto parts store to buy motor oil the prices are not even close. If I wanted to use RP over even M-1 EP I would pay $10 more a oil change with RP if you include taxes. A RP oil change would be almost 80 bucks if I did it myself compared to 25-30 I normally pay. For some reason I may be crazy but RP is not 3X better then what I am using.

You did not specify JUST WalMart. I could care less about what you said last week or last month or whatever. You made a broad sweeping statment in THIS thread in which you said "there is not a motor oil I can buy off the shelf that is close to the individual quart price of RP with the exception of Lucas Synthetic Motor oil. This is not even RP's premium brand. Even M-1 EP cost less than RP's entry level offering around here at least." Those are your words not mine.

If you were specificallly speaking about WalMart say at WalMart. Don't generalize and say you can't walk into a store around here and buy RP for a price even close to that of any other motor oil and then change lanes when you are shown to be wrong. I showed that you can walk into a bunch of stores near you and get it for a similar cost. I also showed that RP can actually be had for less than what M1 EP and PU are sold for at some places near you. My point was 100% proven accurate in 10 minutes doing an online search from 2700 miles away. Certainly anyone actually living in that area could look more and find a betetr deal.

The cheapest RP I found was $9.49. You say WalMart has M1 EP for $7.98. That is only a $1.51 difference. When talking oil prices that is "close". Only $7.55 more for a 5qt OC. WalMart has RP up here at some stores for $8.47 p/qt. Only 49 cents more p/qt and just $2.45 more p/ 5qt OC to use RP. Would you not call that close? Certainly doesn't add up to 3X's more for you to do an OC? Are you comparing the cost when using 5 qt jugs from WalMart to do it or maybe talking about using conventional oil?

People constantly harp on the price of RP but the reality is you can get it for close to the same, and many times even less than, the name brand stuff if you just shop around and look at all locations in your area that sell it. Don't compare it to conventional oil prices and don't compare it to the price of 5qt jugs sold at a huge discount only at WalMart. Compare it fairly which would be to other synthetics sold in individual qt bottles. No one, including me, disputes the fact that you can buy oil cheap in 5qt jugs at WalMart. RP is not offered that way however so when I speak of RP pricing I compare individual qt bottle pricing.

If you don't want to use it; don't! Who the heck cares what you use for oil or what I use? Making broad generalizations about something you don't even use helps no one. I will never understand your motivation nor the motivation of others to hate a product so badly that you have no real expperience with. Just mind numbing to me.

Let's just agree to disagree and move on.

Well, I can't defend RP's marketing, or anyone's marketing for that matter. Some marketing personnel quite clearly live in worlds of their own.
