"Mobil 1 Extended Performance has an even more robust formula that has been proven in extensive field tests to help protect critical engine parts for 15,000 miles between oil changes. Guaranteed. We’ve selected specific synthetic components to deliver this outstanding level of performance."

So what are these specific synthetic components that Mobil1 is talking about?

Voa time! If nothing has changed in one, then marketing hype with a small change that was easy to implement. I am a big mobil fan and have not used the ep line oil yet but i have used the ep filter in fact currently im using it and it seems perfect.

I use syn when others would not but 15,000 miles would be 5 years for my truck and the car is under warranty with 6000km oci. The camaro would be around 8 years so thats not gonna work. Sweet oil though. I wonder if it comes in a 10w30 flavour? Id use it in my ope and the generators. The gennys dont really get changed that often.

That is just their marketing lingo.

M1 EP is probably majority Visom (Grp III+) with PAO and Grp V base oils. Just a guess but product data sheet data seems to somewhat confirm this. Good stuff. I have always liked M1 products.

+1 And Mobil 1 unlike Pennzoil (Ultra) does provide Product Data Sheets( except for NOACK which is deep dark secret ) for the consumer to review their specs.

What do you mean? I can get Pennzoi'ls TDS'S and MSDS's as long as I got a internet connection. Another good source of Pennzoil information is to email technical support. I have posted their responses to my questions on here. If it is a normal business day Pennzoil has responded to my question within a hour of me emailing Pennzoil. If I question Pennzoil what base stocks are used for a oil they have told me what the primary base stock is but will not go into specific % of each base stock. That is normal procedure for most companies so that is not a big deal. I do not know what I am doing different than some members on here, but I am not the only member that has posted similar stories when dealing with Pennzoil. There is a reason why I go out of my way not to use XOM products. When I first became a member of this site, I had the exact same experiences with dealing with Mobil technical services that many have claimed to experience with Pennzoil and even talking to Mobil representatives on the phone I must of called on a bad day. Now its seems Mobil has became a little more friendly with people asking basic formulation questions but try asking them what is the primary base stock of Mobil One and you may get a answer it is made up 15 different base stocks. That answer is fine. At least from my experience when I ask about PP, Pennzoil emailed me and I posted it here that PP is primary group III base stock and once it was first released it was EOP.

Agree.

In terms of clarity and professionalism, M1 does a really good job. You don't have to like their products, but their marketing is top notch IMO.

How come I can find them?

Could it be that SOPUS has too many brands that they don't know what to do with them all?

Up here, all the Esso and Mobil product data sheets are easy to find, on one page with a link to each brand. A lot of Esso stuff is being switched over to Mobil anyhow. That's not to say that there aren't a lot of links to outdated and unavailable products, or products like compressor oil that can only inexplicably be bought in drums, but I digress.

Actually, I don't mind the www.epc.shell.com portal. For whatever reason, I find it easier to remember that than it is for me to find the Imperial Oil portal, but that's just me. I dislike bookmarks for the most part.

I'm currently using M1 EP 5w20 in my Mazda6s for my 1 yr. 12k mile OCI. In Sept. when the year is up, i'll get a UOA to get an idea how well it's held up in my car.
