Trying to seal gaps between some wood trim and plaster walls. Both seem to be latex, the Alex plus has silicone, the dynaflex has a longer warranty (50yrs).

Recommendations?

The wood is stained, walls are painted, if that matters.

Or should I use something else?

Thanks!

I'm using both and have extensive experiences on them.

Dynaflex works out to be more stretchable than alex(or alex-plus) and that's a plus when you are dealing with seasonal joint stretching/shrinking gaps.

alex/alex-plus are weaker in that regards.

unlike pure silicone, both dynaflex/alex type comes with the additional benefits paintable, easy cleanup (when wet), etc.

I use Dynaflex on high stretch/flex joints on my house currently.

Q.

If you wood is stained, you may have difficulties getting either (alex or dynaflex) to stick properly.

You may have to do some extra work to sand or wash off the stain part to expose some fresh wood for maximum adhesion.
