I have 75,500 miles on my jeep grand cherokee 5.2 V8.

I have not had the performance gains that i should have after doing my upgrades to it. I suspect that some of it might be that the engine is dirty.

Right now the Intake manfifold and valve covers are off, is there anything i should clean and look for while these are off? I will be putting on a brand new intake manifold.

should i do a combustion chamber cleaning? When i do this should i have my cat cutoff for the cleaning process and then reinstalled after? I know that i need to take out my oxygen sensors.

What solution should i run through the engine oil.

What solution should i run through the fuel.

Can injectors ever go bad, or do they just get dirty, where can i take mine to be tested and looked at, then cleaned if necessary? Should i just get new ones? As far as i know they are the original ones.

What engine oil should i be using. I switched to chevron supreme synthetic at 71,000 miles, and I need to do an oil change now. I need to switch back to regular oil for the Auto-rx treamant right.

Any idea's/ tried and true processes would be great.

Since you have the intake manifold and valve covers off, you can probably get a lot of sludge (if any) out by scooping or scraping. I would just block the oil passages to prevent clogging them with big pieces of gunk. You may be able to use an engine cleaning brush to clean up the passages as well. I'm not familiar enough with Jeep engines to make that call.

Afterwards, run some new dino oil and either Neutra like Patman suggested, or try Auto-RX. Change your oil again after 500-750 miles and you should be all set.

Since you are going to do all of this disassembly, I would take the plugs out and add 4 oz. of Lube Control to each cylinder. After about an hour of soaking, turn the crank by hand about 1 revolution very slowly. Let the Lube Control soak past the rings before reinstalling plugs.

I would also flood the valve assembly and any lifters with about 2 quarts of Neutra, making sure the Neutra gets to the valve guides and the stem seals.

After assembly, run the engine (with the Neutra and Lube Control still in the crankcase) about twenty minutes or until hot and then drain oil and change filter.

how do i soak the lifters and rockers in it? Also, where can i buy this stuff.

Wont this "hydrolock the engine by putting liquid in the cylinders"

also, Has anyone done a "combustion chamber cleaning"

will this damage my catalytic converter? I know it will damage the oxygensensors, but what about the cat?

Get injectors cleaned or replaced. Use your phone book to find a shop that cleans/tests the FI in your area.

With valve covers off, was there any oil sludge/crud buildup on the cover/head/rockers/passages.....?
If not, don't worry about oil flushes. Stick with normal 3k oil changes(synth recommended) and you won't have any sludge buildup. Oil choice is your personal preference.

For the fuel system, after installing a new fuel filter, use any FI cleaner from your auto parts stores. I prefer the quality ones like seafoam/bg44k/b12chem/redline/amsoil/.....and rotate between them with a different bottle every oil change.

Hydrolock occurs when you exceed the compressed/closed combustion chambers CC volume. As long as you don't and there is room for the air to compress, hydrolock shouldn't be an issue.
But, it is easier to just get a topend cleaning when the engine is running. Find a shop with a carbonclean-type or equivalent(AutoCare, CarbonClean, InjectorTest, DeCarbon, Motor-Vac, JetClean) topend/intake/FI cleaning system!

It won't damage your 02 sensors or cat.

As that you mentioned it:

Motorvac Induction service is quite effective.

If you find a dealer that does it see if they will give you free before and after exhaust read out of the NOX and CO readings.

You will find a decrease of these emissions after running the Motorvac FI service.

"how do i soak the lifters and rockers in it? Also, where can i buy this stuff."

It was assumed the valve covers were already removed from the head. Neutra is purchased from Schaeffer's reps such as Tim Mills or Bob.

"Wont this "hydrolock the engine by putting liquid in the cylinders"

Not if you allow the Lube Control to soak past the rings as per the above instructions. This is done of course with the spark plugs removed.

"also, Has anyone done a "combustion chamber cleaning"

Adding Neutra or Fuel Power to the fuel will clean the combustion chambers as you drive.

"will this damage my catalytic converter? I know it will damage the oxygensensors, but what about the cat?"

No.
