Hey guys. I just returned from visiting my parents. Their 2002 PT Cruiser has 73,000 miles on it. The car is still in great shape after 10 years of ownership. While I was driving it around. It doesn't ride as smooth as it once did. They live in the Socal desert. The don't have underground sewers. They have these gullies at every intersection. So your suspension takes a beating.

I went online and priced out new struts and shocks. I found these Monroe Quick Struts for about the same price as just the strut and strut mounts. You are getting the springs and boots for pretty much free.

I'm not not looking to spend a lot of money on a 10 year old car. These seem to fit the bill. I will save on labor also. They should take half the time for the install.

Any reviews on these?

Thanks

Put them on my 2000 Taurus I just sold recently and after 2 years just fine . I will say when I put all 4 on that car it made it ride as good or better than new and raised it about 2" as well .

I have used these on a 94 Toyota ,,They seem to be thrown together with mismatched parts ,My front struts came with different shafts and my top dust-dirt bearing cap will not seat down correctly, they are under warranty so i will return them when they go bad,,The rear ones i replaced twice already and each time the car sits lower than stock (i wish i saved my original springs) ,,Anyway i seen other complaints on these quick-struts and people prefer the KYB's

Put a complete set of 4 on a late 90's olds that felt like you were rolling around on a unbaffled waterbed while driving down the road. Now it rides like it should, no nose dive or side to side roll. Installing myself was more economical than paying a shop to tear apart the old assemblies to replace the strut. I followed up with a 4 wheel alignment and the thing rides and drives like a new car. I would recommend them for this application, for sure.

I put four on my car about 2 yrs ago. No problems so far. Also put a few other pairs on other vehicles. They tend to raise the ride height some. I prefer that though.

bought an offbrand set of quick struts off ebay very cheaply and they were a snap to replace.

But how long do they last?

Anyway, I use quick struts and love them, they work perfectly and really do last 50,000 miles.

It's good to know that a PT Cruiser is doing well after 10 years because I just bought one with 44k miles on it.

Anyways, I put the quick struts on my Buick Century. I only put them on the front. Some people complain that the Monroe Sensa Trac shocks are too soft. I personally like a softer ride. The KYB shocks and struts would be better if you're more interested in high speed cornering.
I like the Monroe Sensa Tracs. When I put them on my Buick, the ride was still soft and floaty but the car didn't keep bouncing like it did before.

I will probably put the Sensa Tracs on my car when the original ones go out.

The KYBs will give you better handling and the Monroes will give you a better ride.

I installed them in the front of our Montana at 100K miles, now at 123K miles. The rears are simple shocks, I installed Sensa-Tracs. The ride and handling are excellent for a minivan.

The Quick Struts were a real time saver. On the Montana you have to remove a bunch of stuff to get at the top strut mount bolts, so I really appreciated not needing to spend time disassembling/reassembling the struts. And you get all new parts.

Have used and installed many sets and only had one issue with a bearing plate. In fact, the wife's car is riding on them now.

Just make sure you get the Sensa Trac Quick Struts, as Monroe now offers an economy line that won't hold up long.

Thanks for the info guys. My parents are in their late 60's. I think the Monroe's would be a better ride over the KYB's.

It looks like Amazon has the best price. They are $30 bucks cheaper then Rockauto.

Yes, they are called econo-matics. The strut is blue in color to separate it from the Sensa Trac quick struts which are black in color.

I installed a pair on the front of our 05 T&C about 10 days ago. We took it on a 400-mile road trip this past weekend. So far, so good!

Just finished installing 2 fronts on my Cobalt.Very easy to do_Only glitch was the sway bar link studs, attached to the struts. They both spun in their housings. Had to put a floor jack under the sway bar and put upward pressure on the links which jammed the bolt against the strut bracket enough to allow the nuts to spin off.Other than that easy.Used an electric impact gun from canadian tire,7.5 amp model(sale for $45).Have to tap out the knuckle bolts as they are splined.Cost $228 for 2 at Partsource, they honoured a 2 for 1 bogo from Canadian tire.Cheapest I saw previous was rock auto in the u.s. Would have been $330 including shipping to winnipeg.

x2.
Use SensaTrac, not their blue struts; "Matic Plus".

OP - any update with the Quick Struts? I am dealing with the exact same vehicle right now, but with about twice the mileage. Thanks.

I have used Monroe Quick Struts a few times and I like them and recommend them. My only real problem is that I replaced just the strut when I should have used the whole quick strut assembly.

I'll be replacing the struts/shocks in my '04 Altima with the Monore Quick-Struts and seperate rear shocks.

Right now, it's Shocktober for Monroe(B3G1 Free)
