after researching here, other forums, first hand feedback, here is what I'm using in the 2009 Yamaha V Star 650 & the 2009 Genuine Buddy 125; both will get Shell Rotella T conventional 15w-40 hdeo for the majority of the riding season and get Valvoline 4 Stroke conventional 10w-40 motorcycle oil for late season, winter storage, and early season; Yamaha OCI will be @ 3K miles & Genuine Buddy OCI will be @ 2K miles

Great choices. Rotella is just fine.

For winter weather I recommend the Rotella synthetic 5w-40. It has the same great shift feeling characteristics as Rotella and flows excellent in the cold. Heck it's a good oil to use all year round if you don't mind the extra expense especially considering it's probably cheaper than special 4T "motorcycle" oils.
