Silicone. WD-40 isnt a great lubricant and attracts dirt, and petroleum could attack plastics and rubber. Dry lube could work too but...I just use silicone myself.

some kind of dry lube?

Silicone spray lube available at any auto parts place. Dry or wet silicone doesn't matter. What does matter is that you get the lube right down into the parts of the run-channel that extend into the door.

DO NOT use WD-40. WD-40 is based on petrochemicals, which will attack and swell the rubber the run-channel is made of.

Boy that is the truth. Kinda like the spray lock lube that only came with the Focus recall with the 2 weatherstrips.
