I did my oil change recently & put in my motor GM Genuine motor oil Dexos 2 5W30.
I bought 2 cans in Deutschland on eBay for a great price.

I haven't find anything on the manufacturer on the web & I would like to know the specs of this oil.

Is this oil made by Mobil 1 ?

Thanks.

Salut,
The manufacturers have been Wolf oils of Belguim(they also run their own brand, Champion Lubes)and Total-Fina-Elf. I think they’ve been supplying GM Europe at the same time with various oils(with some minor differences in the formulations) for years…

Here are the licensed Dexos 2 oils:
http://www.gmdexos.com/licensedbrands/dexos2licensedbrands.html

Note two of the certified oils:
CHAMPION SYNTOLUBE GSB 5W30
and Elf Solaris MSX 5W-30(or Total Quartz Ineo MC3 5w-30)

The Wolf oil:

CHAMPION SYNTOLUBE GSB 5W30 :

http://www.wolfoil.com/update/documenten/engels/tf/passenger_cars/champion/65607ce.pdf

“It is primary intended for all light-duty diesel engines of General Motors vehicles in both factory and service fill, but it is equally suitable for most gasoline engines.”

Here is the serificate of origin for two of the GM oils of older specs, as demanded apparently by the Ukrainian legislation. The circled text in red mentions the two GM oils’ actual manufacturer:

As for Total:

Ineo MC3 Technical Data sheet:

Elf Solaris MSX TDS:

.........
And the MSDS’s of:

Total Ineo MC3:
http://pdfcast.org/pdf/total-ineo-mc3-5w-30

…Elf Solaris MSX :
http://pdfcast.org/pdf/elf-solaris-msx-5w-30

and
Total-made Dexos2:

Hope this answer ther question.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was a third manufacturer for GM Europe though.

55€ for two 5l cans from germany
about 72$...
The price of 1 can of Mobil Super 3000 XE 5W-30

Gas & oil are very expensive here...

The price of a liter of unleaded has exceeded € 2 (2,60$) in Paris

This oil is on sale for 23.90€/5l which has drawn my interest back on the subject of it's origins. The Total/Elf version has a mediocre VI of 168 but the Champion looks more impressive with a VI of 182.

This stuff is incredibly cheap compared to any other oil. It's even cheaper than house brands!
Need an oil meeting GM-ll-a-025? Mobil 1 0w-40 is 8.60€/l and GM 5w-30 is 4.78€/l.
Need a low saps oil meeting BMW LL-04 or MB229.51? Mobil 1 ESP formula is 12.50€/l and GM 5w-30 is 4.78€/l.

The low price raises questions about quality and the exact specifications of the oil.

I've been wondering the same thing. Makes you a bit suspicious doesn't it

BTW OpelFever, where are you getting M1 0w-30 here in .fi?

From the place I work, never seen it in an autoparts store but there are a couple of places online where you can order it. Kind of expensive though, Teboil diamond carat 0w-30 is cheaper and more available.

Yes it is. Absolutely amazing value at 5e/L when you think that M1 0w40 and 5w30 ESP are 10-12e/L. Although it isn't a 507/504 oil, but still.

any news on this? Bought 5 litres of it and thinking of pouring it into the jeep 4.0. That engine shouldnt complain much anyways.

But seriously, can this oil be trusted to meed specs? If so, it is the best value here right now.
