What be a good oil filter for 2008 Lexus ES-350, 3.5L engine running conventional oil, and 3-4000 mile oil changes?

Purolator Pure One looks decent but at double the price of the Puro classic.

That would fall under the severe service intervals, no?

Potentially, but what does the owner's manual and/or maintenance guide say? In any case, I concur with the above that the OEM Toyota filter would be a fine choice in this application.

PP1 is too restrictive and too small for this application. There are pictures of collapsed PP1 on this (or was it RAV4world?) forum.

OEM is $4-5 and very good quality.

After the sludge confusion fiasco, Toyota has only one OCI: 5000 miles/6 months for mineral oil (double that for synthetic 0W20).

Okay, thats good to know, but $4-5 sounds rather cheap for a OEM part that I'll have to purchase from a dealer?

Are you saying that products have to be expensive to be good quality? Than I have to throw away all that free after rebate synthetic oil I'm getting these days.

Toyota OEM oil filter are great quality. I will not use anything else.

I buy it from ebay last dec. 10 for $40 for yzzd1. 10 for $35.95 yzzf1. Free Shipping.

The P1's are fairly cheap on amazon. order over $25 = free shipping. Was going to order them until I saw friendly_jacek's remarks regarding restriction!!!! Just went through that with a Napa Gold (oil light, oil was full) don't want that again. Why I'm using the Fram Xtended Guard. You could just drain the oil and leave the XG on for 2 OC's . Here's the Fram XG info if your interested. 8.97 at walmart

It's one of those few things from a dealer that has a very fair price. Motorcraft oil filters are the same, about $4, and very good quality.

But, lets ignore the evidence.

C'mon. But you really can get the OEM's really cheap.

Can you elaborate?

Oh...phew I thought he was talking about the P1 spin on, not the canisters. Canisters are a whole new game, with all new reputations being formed, including FRAM! They make one of the best canister filters so far!

That cartridge filter is not "collapsed" from being too restrictive, but more like being TOO TALL for the hole it fits into. Other cartridge manufacturers have had similar issues.

I'm sure the PureOne cartridge filters flow just as good as the spin-ons.
