What Oil cocktail do you have brewing?

I think the EOM made Toyota 0W-20 with it's 216 VI is a great oil mixing candidate since it will dramatically improve the VI of anything it's mixed with.
For example, a 50/50 blend with M1 0W-40 will produce a 0W-30 with a VI approaching 200. You can't buy a 0W-30 with a VI anywhere near that high. This 30wt blend would be lighter on start-up than every 5W-20 available.

My 97 4 cyl Camry currently has a mixture of M1 5W30, M1 10W30 HM and M1 EP 10W30. It would be hard to say what the proportions were because the jug was created by pouring in leftover oil after oil changes.

one car 50 -50 mix of Amsoil 10W40 and 5W30 Series 3000, another Amsoil 50-50 10W40 and 10W30 and the other two,straight Shell Synthetic 10W30 or 5W30 .

I'm going with 4 quarts of Chevron 10W-30 and 2 quarts of Chevron 20W-50 next time.

That'll give me a cSt of 12.17 at 100C.

I haven't combined engine oils for an oil change.
However, I pulled out 1/2 of the PSF from my mom's 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and put in a small amount of Royal Purple and a full bottle of LXE PS additive.

I haven't had time to listen if the P/S noise has gone down.

I'm a hopeless blender, it's too much fun not to do it. The Jeep gets a Rotella/Pennzoil blend, most of the other cars have Rotella and a dash of something else in them too. Since it's now cold here, they all have about a pint of MMO in them also since Rotella is the base oil for all of them and it's pretty thick stuff.

My '06 S2000 with a raised redline of 8600 rpm gets 3qt's of M 1 0/30 and 3 qt's of M 1 10/40 motorcycle oil for more zinc and phosphorus to help protect against metal-to-metal contact between engine parts. I run a over sized Baldwin oil filter(B7042) that is about twice as big as the stock Honda filter and holds 1 more qt. of oil.

Three quarts total of synthetic:

1 quart Castrol Edge 10W-30
1 quart Mobil 1 0W-30
1 quart Mobil 1 10W-30

And three total of dino:

3 quarts Proline from Pep Boys 5W-30

1 Fram Tough Guard size TG3600, (slightly oversize).

I have a Fram OCOD PH8A that is very oversize but fits the car; will use it in June 2012. Then I am off to other filter lines.

For the doubters, I just ran up to Ely, Nevada and back. With various side trips, it was about 1700 miles, at high speed. Not a single problem at all. The Tough Guard is actually a pretty decent filter.

Nothing outrageous but a friends '02 Tahoe that I do oil changes on currently has 1qt. Mobil 7500 5W30 & 5qts. MC 5000 10W30. The Mobil 7500 5W30 I have about 4qts of it and "donated" the 6th qt. to him.

My current fill is 5 qts. of Red Line 0W-30, and 1 qt. of Red Line 0W-20.

The next (summer) change will be the same, except for the 1 qt. (maybe 2 qts., I haven't decided yet) being Red Line 0W-40.

5qts of Mobil Super 5000 5W20 and 1.5qts of Eneos 0W20 full synthetic.

I plan to do the same next OCI. Been wanting to get 5,000mi UOA with that mix.

I thinking of going to a semi-syn or blend sometime after my 03' Focus reaches around 125K.

Motorcraft Blend would be my fist choice....but....since I don't know the percentage of synthetic in MC....I think I'll create my own blend.

My sump is 4.5 quarts...so I'm considering....

2.5 quarts of Mobil Super 5000 (5w20)....& 2 quarts of Mobil 1 (0w20)

OR

2.5 quarts of PYB (5w20)....and 2 quarts of PP (5w20)

I think it is wise to only mix oils from the same company (i.e. Mobil or SOPUS).
