hastings filter (In car when I bought it on 8/31)
IN : Valvoline 5w-30 full synthetic
Bosch Distance Plus #3300

The hardest part was getting it high enough to get underneath it to get to the drain plug. BUT my neighbor who helped me today is installing a lift in his garage, so it will be ALOT easier next time.

I'd like to know when Nissan's starting specifying 0W-50 engine oil!!!

At the Jiffy Lube near me, they use Formula Shell conventional. Jiffy Lube is either owned by or partnered with SOPUS (can't remember which it is), so you either got PYB, FS, or QSAD. Your receipt should state whatever they used.

2002 BMW 325Ci. Out M1 0-40. In M1 0-40. Mann filter.

Only 3200 miles on it, but in there 8 months. New fill will run the winter. Lots and lots and lots and lots of SHORT trips. Work is only 1.4 mi away.

I changed the Civic's oil this morning, I drained out Toyota 0w20 with 4400 miles on it, and replaced it with the same. We still don't have the SN version up here, so both the outgoing and ingoing oil was of the SM formula. I pulled off a Quaker State oil filter and the new one is a Fram XG.

I did the oil change with 50% oil life showing on the monitor, I did not feel comfortable running the very first interval right to the maximum amount, as the engine may have run nothing but conventional oil it's entire life (and it's got 83k on it) I also did not want to get stuck with the car needing an oil change in the middle of winter. It also allowed me to get a true reading on the oil consumption as I could measure how much came out. I put in 4L and about 3.7L came out, and I bet a good portion of that difference is oil that soaked into the filter media. So this engine most likely won't need topping up in between oil changes. (especially since the manual calls for 3.7L and I overfill it to a nice even 4L to keep things simple)

I took a sample and will be dropping it off at Wearcheck on Monday so I will be posting the UOA results on Wednesday or Thursday most likely.
