Other way. Oil comes in the small outer holes and come out through the center hole.

This issue confused me when I first looked at oil filters, too. Please see the exploded parts diagram below:

The oil has to come in the outer holes, so the anti-drainback valve can block them and prevent backflow when the engine is turned off. Also, note how the oil flow presses the filter media against the center tube. Oil flow in the opposite direction would quickly destroy the media.
