Ute has 225,000 km total mileage and is fitted with a Motorguard bypass. The recommended change interval is 5,000km with the FF filter every 10,000.I changed the FF filter at 20,000km and the toilet roll every 5,000 km.It requires 1 litre of oil for each roll change plus an extra 1 litre at FF change time, therefore has had 8 litres of top up.Columns from L to R are current at 40,000 next current at 30,000 next previous oil change at 25,000 and last oil change at 20,000 km.Missing elements are nil.

Fuel Lab comments; The iron level has elevated.Other wear levels appear normal for the kms on the oil.We recommend to change the oil and resample in 20,000 km to monitor the trend.

Wow, very nice UOA! Copper is excellent. Very low Si indicating that the bypass filter is doing it's job.

I'm no expert, but Fe at 41 after 40km doesn't seem like a whole lot even with 10L of top-up. Do you know the average Fe for your vehicle? How large is the sump?

I assume you did not OCI, but only UOA'd?

Looks very good for all wear metals except for Fe. The Fe is NOT at any danger level, but I'd think it's not a "low" wear rate. After all, that is equiv to 41ppm in about 25k miles. Not a bad rate, and not worth worrying about, but not "stellar". If you've not set condemnation limits, I'd suggest looking into it; you're probably about (almost) halfway to a reasonable limit (perhaps 100ppm?). That will help you decide when to OCI.

I would certainly agree that this oil is doing a good job and is a candidate for continued sump use at this point.

Adding a liter every 5k km (= qrt every 3.5k miles) will surely keep the TBN strong, but it also adds to costs.

Have you run an ROI analysis?

BTW - perhaps you could consider using one of the text-block tools; you have good data but it's hard to read.
