It's a multi-purpose household oil. Lubes and protects and can also be used as a light machine oil.

Seems to work well. It shut my son's bedroom door up real quick, I know that much!

If you look on the label at the contents, it has PTFE/BN, which is ceramic reinforced Teflon. The carrier is soybean based, as are many of the newer general purpose lubes these days. Radiator Specialties used to have a series of videos showing the L4 lubricant had the ability to wet a sheet of teflon. Their data sheet claimed a 600 hour salt water rating. I use the foaming version as a gun lube and as a wipe for the mower deck. Works great for both!
