We recently got a used generator set with an Isuzu 3LD1 diesel engine. It looks pretty good with 2300 hours on it. I wanted to change its oil and coolant but the manual can no longer be found. The specs I got from the net says it only requires a CD or CE rated oil. I haven't found any coolant specs.

I have some left-over Shell semi-synthetic API SL/CF. Is it ok for me to use this since its CF-rated (even if its primarily rated for gas engine) or am I better off getting a diesel-specific oil?

Any coolant recommendations for this engine?

I agree with Chris to the importance of proper lubes and fluids. So trying to find the website to get the proper specs would be a good idea as the diesel engines are very expensive.
