Does anyone know where to get a grease that will not carbonize if it gets real hot? I have a sample from a guy but it is not labeled and seems to work pretty well. It looks like silicone caulking that is clear and is incredibly viscous, it seems to lube pretty well, does not migrate even under high temps and does not seem to carbonize. I'd like to buy a tube without having to buy from him in little amounts.

sounds like Dow or Dupont product,,,what are you useinit for?,,,as a silicon grease will be clean, there are other petro. greases that can stand a lot,,Schaeffers has a copper tinted grease for high tenps..................BL

Piston on a gun part that will be exposed to flames and really hot gas. Any idea what dow product/du pont product? As to the stuff from napa, what size tube does it come in and is it reasonably priced considering how much you get?

Krytox is definitely overkill for this application. I'll have to go to napa to check this stuff out. Thanks
