I will have to say I've only really been on two 'real' rides. A few months ago I was 237lbs and averaged 7 mph and now at 187 I averaged 12mph over 12 miles. Not a long ride, but I just got a new seat and pedals. Going up small hills I was at 10mph, while previously at 5. I really thought my computer was mocking me somehow.
However, I'm in such bad cycling shape that I felt the same during/after the ride, but the new firm seat now pains my sit bones instead of my perineum. And ago I was just wearing plain shoes on clipless pedals and now I got some dual sided platforms. I'm so glad I finally got those two items replaced, so now I can get some good rides in before it gets too cold.
Oh yeah, weather may have something to do with it.. ya know, Oct vs Jun
