I have a 99 Chev Tracker 4 door hardtop with a 5 speed manual. Veehicle has 140K miles on it and I want to dump the manual gear oil from the transmission and replace it.
Does anyone know the proper weight to use? What kind should I use and how much does it take?

Thanks

Sorry, no specifics from me.
And my old girlfriend had one of those!

But I would upgrade to a full synthetic. Contact Amsoil or Redline and see what their offerings are for your car.
You will have better protection for parts and better shifting.

Tell us which tranny! (Is it 4WD?)

[2] GM part no. 12345349 or equivalent.
[3] Synthetic gear oil, GM part no. 12346190 or equivalent
1999-2000 Tracker, if a determination has been made that
the 5-speed M59 transmission synchronizers have been
replaced, use synchromesh transmission fluid GM
part no. 12345349 or equivalent.

Thanks for the info Pablo.
Im not sure if the synchromesh syncros have been replaced.
It is a 4wd.
The owners manual says to use 75w85.
But your info says to use GM Synchromesh fluid in a 5w30.
Perhaps I wont play with this area of the truck. It shifts fine, I was just thinking about doing routine maintenence. I think I'll just roll with it for now.

Thanks

Always do routine maintenance.

Most transmissions tolerate a wide range of fluid.

Go to the local Nissan, Hyundai, or Kia dealership and pick up the 75w85 from them. Its a GL4 and will work fine.
