They show a trend of what people are using in their engines.

If you don't like reading them, then don't. Personally I find what ACTUAL oils and filters people using (and hopefully what OCI) very informative.

Let's keep this thread all about what the subject is.

Changed the oil on my moms car for her yesterday. She had told me that she was over on her change so I figured I'd be nice and change it for her.

1991 Buick Park Avenue 142,500 miles
5W30 PYB and ad Acdelco pf47 filter.

Got the oil changed and tore the old oil change sticker and it turned out that she only had 2,500 miles on here oil. The local quick change place had been telling her to do 2,000 mile oil changes. I put a new sticker up for 3,000 mile oil change and reset her olm beings it hasn't ever been reset since she bought the car. Her car does quite a bit of idling and mostly in town driving, so I figured I'd change her oil for her after 3,000 miles and maybe do an analysis for her to see if it can be stretched out a bit more.

I should add that the place she took it to had been using 10w30 PYB and a Pennzoil filter. When I put the oil filter over the opening in the oil barrel that my boss dumps his used oil into, it drained in a matter of a few seconds. I think I might cut that filter open and see why it would drain so fast.

3qts PYB 10w30. That's all it holds.

Purolator standard filter.

Spray-painted the filter with high-temp gold.

Seriously.

I was bored, okay?

Now it kinda looks like a PureOne filter.

I'm sure it will filter better, now.

Engine doesn't use a drop of oil.

Gotta be the paint, I'm thinkin'.

I just did an oil change on my friends 1994 Nissan Altima GXE, he bought the car used with 156,000 miles.

When he got the car he wanted me to put some MMO into his oil, so I put in 16 ounces of MMO and I checked his oil level the next day and it was fine.

I told him to come back after driving 1000 miles with the MMO in his engine, the oil that was changed today came out very DARK, it was PITCH BLACK.

Since the car holds 4.2 quarts of oil I told him to pickup 4 quarts of 10W-30 motor oil from CarQuest, it came out to $2.68 a quart.

He told me 5W-20 and 5W-30 brand Carquest Dino oil is going for $3.28 a quart.

So, we changed his oil filter with a CarQuest Oil Filter, ironically the oil filter that was taken off was a CarQuest oil filter.

I added 4 quarts of oil and 24 ounces of MMO and told him to check the oil level tommorow, I put the remaining 8 ounces of MMO in his fuel.

I told him to get the 10W-30 oil as opposed to the 5W-30 motor oil because it is summer and I knew we would be adding some MMO.

I will see how his oil looks when we go to change it again, and next time I just may have him get 5W-30 instead.
