I went to my local checker to get some more mobil1 15w50 that they are clearancing out and started talking to the guy about their store brand synthetic. They are having a deal 5quarts and a mobil1 filter for 17.99. Seems like a really good deal, but I can't find any info on who makes it. The guys helping me didn't know and asked the manager. He said that he had been asked before and had made some calls to find out and that it was havoline?

Does it seem likely that this stuff is havoline synthetic?

I might get some for that price.

Question: Who makes O'Reilly's brand of oil?

Answer: O'Reilly's brand of oil is manufactured and packaged by Omni Specialty Packaging. Omni is an independent lubricant manufacturer in Shreveport, LA. While Omni is not affiliated with any "major" manufacturer, we do buy our base oils from companies like Exxon/Mobil and Shell.

Question: What specs does O'Reilly motor oil meet and how does it compare to name brand oils?

Answer: O'Reilly brand motor oils meet API 'SM' service classification and where applicable ILSAC 'GF-4'. Both API 'SM' and ILSAC 'GF-4' are the latest industry standards for passenger car motor oils. These are the same specifications that all "major" brand oils should meet.
