So, I'm interested in Royal Purple motor oil. I went to the Royal Purple web site www.royalpurple.com.

It's a very poor website.

There is no technical data. Am I slow and did I miss it? Is it published elsewhere?

Thanks in advance!

My vote is for slow.

It is there on the site. You missed it.

Actually, I think the RP site is a decent one compared to other oil sites I have visited.

I asked their tech support the questions of why the data sheet when missing suddenly some weeks ago. Was told they are updating some oils.

I have the latest PDS in PDF format if anyone wants it.

They also stated they have an 0w20 in the works *and others, I think.
So, not unlikely they have to update docs.
RP has been very responsive to my inquiries.

I looked hard - twice. You have a URL? (for the 0w40)

Looks like it has been pulled to be updated as talked of above. I was just there a couple days back and it was there. BTW - they don't list the data for each individual oil weight on it's own page or anything. It is a single page with the info for all their oils. Check back in a few days or just e-mail tech support and ask. They are excellent about answering questions.

Normally it would be found here and would have a link next to the MSDS link...

It is an SM rated oil. Are you wondering about the European specs it meets?

for what its worth i tried this RP stuff (5w40 grade) in my Euro Spec BMW E36 M3 (S50B32 engine) after having mobil 1 0w40 in it previously. All i can say is that the Mobil was 10 times better. After putting the RP 5W40 in the engine and vanos got noisey where as before they never were, the car got sluggish and i lost mpg. I was amazed that an oil that is raved so much about could be so bad. I don't think too highly of their synerlec technology. I was told it was an estr based oil, hence it would keep my engine quiet due to the ester being polar and stickign to engine internals on shutdown and when starting engine in the morning they would be coated with oil. What a load of rubbish, my engine went from quiet to noisey. M1 0W40 being non ester based kept it quiet, so to me that says a lot for M1 and not much for RP 5W40. Besides, after changing back to M1 my engine went quiet again and i got my power back, the revs quicker again like before and my mpg went back to normal.

not trying to put anyone off but this was my experience with royal purple. I mean, the name even sounds gay!! lol

Coming from a Brit, that's ironic!
I don't agree, but we have different cars. It was nice and quiet on my Scion, and my mileage did go up about 5%
So, I think we can all agree different engines like different oils.
And, Brits normally like dressing up like women, so... JK. All in good fun mate!

Why not compare RP's 0W-40 to the Mobil 1 0W-40? Seems to me you should compare apples to apples and not apples to oranges.

I hope to compare M1 0w40 and RP 0w40 in my small modified pax diesel. I'll do 20K miles on each. And 20K with RL 0w40 too.

In one of the other recent RP threads talking about tech data being missing from the site someone said they were told they are actually doing that. True?
