i'd be skeeeeeeeeeeered of oil that cheap, irregardless of who makes it. this stuff is the lifeblood of your engine man, why go cheap on such an essential component?

because cheap oil can be good oil too, like supertech. if it meets the current specs (sm) then it should be fine for normal oil changes.

That's a good question- wish I had a good answer. I don't know who makes the Fred's Discount Stores oil, I'll try to write down whatever's on the label & maybe we can find out.

BTW: thru Feb. 8, Fred's has Havoline 10w30 & 10w40 for $1.50/qt.

Sorry but I would never put fred's oil in my car. I don't care if its re bottled M1.

I went back to the store today and it says warren
on the bottom of the label, and it was SL, all of their Havoline and Shell was SL also, and their Exxon was SJ.

Occasionally Fred's has killer deals on motor oil. They're cheaper than Wally World from time to time. I try not to go in there very much though!
