anybody know what oil can i substitute for tellus t-22?
all my local parts stores tell me their is no alternative. mike

Hi Mike,

call a company like Shell or Mobil.

They can cross reference the Tellus part number for you.

We use Petro Canada gear oils and coolant in our machines at work. I called them and they cross referenced 30 year old part numbers from Mobil and Shell.

Most companies can do this, no problem.

never thought of that! i can call the mobile tech line! thanks for thew lead! mike

Be sure and tell them your application as it requires the properties of a Tellus T type product. Wide temperature range and its high dielectric strength are important in your application.

Mobil DTE 12M soon to be the excel series of hyd oils. The Iso 22 vis
is not as popular as the 32 thru 68. Usually the smallest quantity is 5
gallons.

Paul,

What Mobil product is the equal to Shell Tellus T 22 hydraulic oil?

I used to have an aerial lift that spec'ed T-22.....memories.

For something that critical, I would contact both the manufacturer and Shell to confirm the proper replacement fluids, compatibility, etc..

It looks like Shell is revamping a lot of it's product lines. They still offer Tellus TX-22, which is the next grade up in "quality".

Here's info on Shell Canada's site (couldn't navigate U.S.):
http://www.shell.com/home/content/can-en...aulic_oils.html

Shell makes some highly regarded hydraulic oils. Shame on you Johnny for jumping ship.

Also, there's a good chance that jobbers/distributors have the T-22 still in stock.
