Who knows, maybe B&S were stretching the numbers when the rated the older engines.

Regardless, the 305cc snow engine is pretty stout. Mine has performed very well the last two seasons and it's seen some serious snow fall. The last storm of the season dropped 30" of wet heavy snow. I did two big driveways and some end of driveway plow deposits for another that day with my 28" Simplicity. A couple folks with 10 h.p. Tecumseh engines were having quite a bit of difficulty. Nothing to do with the Tecumseh engines. They were slugging away but the Craftsman machines they were on just couldn't manage the snow. Might have been lack of maintenance or poor design. Either way, the Simplicity was much easier to operate and finished the work the Craftsman machines were struggling with.
