Chain rust

Hello,

Friday night we were driving with the bikes on the truck, and went throgh a horrible rainstorm.

Put the bikes away and didn't attend to them. Today looked at the bikes and both have orange rust on the chains. Chainrings/cassette are perfectly fine.

What is the best process to remediate from here? Standard chain cleaning regimen? Just oil and go? Wire brush?

That's pretty normal. You can oil and go. No worries.

My chain looks like that on a daily basis in the spring. I just wipe and oil as usual! That is with a beater winter bike though.

Had the occasion to ride my old mtn bike at the beach. Salt water rusted it in less than 12 hours. Gave me a chance to upgrade. "Look wife, all the rust. Need to buy this and this and this."
