Since pep boys carries it, and it is VW 504/507, Im looking at trying it in the wife's 2008 VW rabbit.
Since VW 504 supercedes VW 502, and given that 504/507 seem to be tested to a bit more stringent standards, I do not think that I have much to fear. It seems that there are some concerns with US gasoline quality and the latest specs, but I am not running to the full extent of the "longlife" design, as if there was a flexible service system. I will run merely a 5000 mile OCI.
My thought is that a 5w-30 may be a better oil for a short-trip car than the Amsoil Euro and Schaeffer's 9000 5w-40 Ive run so far. Given that the 5w-30 ESP is an ACEA A3, and has decent HT/HS, hard transients should still be covered, and we do not drive the car like we are racing, so Im not that terribly concerned.
Before I go and buy the oil, anyone have a reason to talk me out of it and just refill with Schaeffer's 9000 5w-40?
THanks!
