Does anybody offer a cold air intake for this car? Are there any forums I can find information for Crown Vic / Marquis owners?

Thanks very much for the info. Another question......is there a way to find out exactly what equipment I have on my car? A website that I can enter my VIN and get that kind of info?

I'm looking for all the factory installed equipment. You know how it's listed on the sheet on your window when you buy a new car? Since I just bought this used, that's what I'm looking for. Hopefully that will also tell me what axle ratio I have.

I don't know how inclined I'd be to use the K&N considering their poor filtration.

The UOAs on my 96 Merc GM show good numbers. K&N air filter.

Most people there go for the air box from the 03-04 Mercury Marauder and a computer tune. The MM air box is designed well, pulls air from directly behind the head light, and can support up to somewhere around 350HP. The actual bottleneck in our air intake system is the 70mm MAF. (Secondary after that would probably be the actual stock airbox lid.) You can put a huge free flowing filter on it and not get a dimes worth of actual performance out of it. The MM box comes with a 80mm MAF. Police Interceptors got a modified MM box in 2004, bumping horsepower to 250 from 239.
As far as gear ratio, you can also decode the door sticker, but there are really only two things it could be stock, 2.73 or 3.27. If you have air ride and dual exhaust, you have the Handling and Performance Package or its Marquis equivalent. That includes the 3.27 axle ratio. Otherwise you get 2.73. Both open non LSD.
