Regarding Schaeffer Diesel Treat 2000 when is it time to switch from summer to winter blend. It's in the 40Fs now and getting colder so I'm thinking it's OK to start using the cold weather (anti-gel) formula. Any thoughts?
Unfortunately yes. I think the fuel blenders actually start their procedures late in October here in the midwest. That Schaeffer's stuff is a nice additive, isn't it?
I think that +20°F is a good point to switch...or before, not after. The anti-gel agent prevents the wax from agglomerating and also keeps the wax particles from falling to the bottom of the fuel tank. All diesel fuel contains some wax...no problem as long is it doesn't solidify.
