Anyone know the best way to replace the belt tensioner on a 93 Chevy S10 pickup with the 2.8 V6?
I know how to remove the belt from the pulleys, but what do I use to get the tensioner itself off?
There looks to be a "torx" head bolt holding it on.
Does that just unscrew out? What size Torx head is that?
I need to replace the entire tensioner assy. Not just the pulley on it.

Thanks.

When you're at parts store getting tensioner, ask to step out door with a couple likely looking torx sockets, try them for size, when you find the correct one,,,,BUY IT!

With belt off, remove torx bolt and tensioner assy will come off ealily (in one piece, they don't usually explode from spring tension). You'll find a teat on the back that fits in a indention in mounting area. Make sure to get it in place when tightening torx and you'll be good to go.

If tensioner is worn/defective it'd be a good idea to replace belt also.
