Good for him. He has really grown into his new role at JGR. He seems much happier and less edgy than he was at Hendrick. A great move for him.
He drove an incredible race today. For those who don't pay close attention to NASCAR racing, Goodyear brought a rock-hard tire to Atlanta, a track where the surface is wearing out and is hard on tires. Coupled with the cold weather, the cars were very difficult to drive today. You could see Kyle's hands sawing at the wheel lap after lap, even when he had a comfortable lead. Tony Stewart ripped Goodyear a new one on live TV, saying it was the most pathetic tire he's ever raced on in his professional career. Tony finished 2nd in the race today.
Reminded me of a race at Charlotte a couple years ago where the Goodyear tire was so soft, drivers were using 1/2 throttle much of the time as to not wear the tires quickly. Some drivers came in for tires every 25-30 laps, that's how bad the tire was.
NASCAR needs a good old fashioned tire war, IMNSHO.
