I could be wrong, but that doesn't look like the English language to me. I don't think it is made in USA. I've only heard good things about HAMP filters for Honda engines. I think you'll be OK if you selected the proper size.

Does it actually say made in USA?

HAMP =Honda After Market Products, which I believe is a Honda company

A strange name, but not as unfortunate a name as TRD

Yes it does

I'll take a pic sometime this week

1. corrision resistant paint.

2. Relief Valve - adjusts the oil level when starting at low temperatures to provide sufficient oil circulation.

3. Use of advanced elements - efficiently catches dust and carbon particles.

4- Drain back Valve - Using a high heat resistant silicon rubber, allows for an early circluation of oil which prevents counterflowing of
oil caused by shutting off the engine, when the engine is started.

5. Fixed gasket, very unlikely for the filter to become loose.

6. Gasket Heat Resistance, gasket remains low temperature even when the oil is hot.

Body
Excellent corrosion-resistant coating.

Relief valve
When clogging elements and cryogenic starting time to properly adjust the amount of oil and oil to ensure circulation.

Element
Using high-performance elements. Dust / particles, such as carbon particles efficiently catch.

DORENBAKKUBARUBU
High heat resistance to the use of silicon rubber. After stopping the engine oil to prevent reflux, the time of starting the engine oil循ring early.

Seal plate
Management exact dimensions of the lock's constant packing and the incidence is less slack.

Packing
Heat resistance, oil resistance, excellent resistance to low temperature gasket to be used.

As far as I know Filtech isnt a brand. I think I remember the word filtech being used on a Champion Labs Bosch filter but I'm not 100% on that.

Derek,

Funny you mentioned that your HAMP oil filter was labeled "made in USA", and something that closely resembles to that of a filtech oil filter.

My HAMP oil filter that I'm currently using is straight from Japan and made by Tokyo Roki, and IMHO they are the best oil filters I've laid my hands on so far.

The Filtech that makes (made?) Honda filters is a subsidiary of Toyo Roki and has a plant in Findlay Ohio

There is a Filtech that I think is another company that makes filter media for other companies.

I googled H1540-RTA-505 & found these

http://www.honda.co.jp/afterservice/parts/oil_filter/hamp-tekiou.html

Honda Janan replaced the parts number of the tall one(I believe the part# is H1540-PLC-505) to H1540-RTA-505

from tsx.acurazine.com

mav3556: Well, I just talked to my friend that is living in Japan and she said that Honda only as two kinds of Hamp filters now (as of 2/2007). The short HAMP Filter part# H1540-PFB-515 and the taller Hamp Filter part# H1540-RTA-505

======
mav3556: The H1540-PLC-505 are the older filters from pre-2007. Filtech is just the sister company of Toyo Roki.

The other thing that my friend said was that, the New Hamp Oil Filters are a little different internally. The older models that were pre-2007 were more like one piece filters internally. The new ones are the opposite.

http://tsx.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37657&page=1&pp=25

So the short Hamp is still Made in Japan(Toyo Roki)
but the tall Hamp is Made in USA(Filtech)

Quest maybe we can compare it w/ your Honda(filtech) filter later
I'll like to know if they are the same(Hamp, Filtech & Honda, Filtech)

My 15400-PCX-004 Honda filter used to be made by Toyo Roki. It is now made by Filtech. The construction quality looks equal, but the Filtech has fewer inlet holes on the base. They appear to be a little larger in diameter though.

What's the joke about TRD?

Pronounce it.

I'm holding in my hands a Hamp which I bought 7 months ago.
H1540-PLC-505
Made in Japan
Height: 3.25"
Diameter: 2 5/8"
ADBV Material - Nitrile.

I have read some where that after driving for about an hour. If the filter gets hot, it means that the filter is doing its job. But if the filter does not get hot, it means the filter is in bypass a lot.
Is this true? The reason I'm asking this is because when I was using an oem filter (Honda Civic), it used to get real hot but the Hamp does not get hot at all.
