I've driven these several times under condition like the video and worse with more high speed slipping and sliding.

The video looks like the Dutch YPR 765 that was designed and initially built in San Jose in the 1970s. A version is still in production in Turkey.

I drove one of these

around the boonies of Ft Irwin for a few hours one day when the YPR 765 (AIFV)tracked vehicles I was running a test on were down for maintenance. My passenger was the attractive daughter of the Dutch Colonel who was in charge of the Dutch procurement of the YPR 765 vehicle in the clip a couple of posts above.

That vehicle was the first step towards the Hummer. It was developed on corporate money, the Army paid for several more, ran some test programs and the requirements morphed to what is now the Hummer.

I was a Hägglund BV206 driver when I was in the army (1 year military service is mandatory in Norway).

The early BV206 ones had a I5 turbodiesel from MB, later models had I6 turbodiesel from MB.

I also drove the old BV202 that was much better off road but didn't have the space, speed, comfort, fuel economy or ease of maintainance that the BV206 has.

The I4 gasoline Volvo engine had MPG of 1.56 miles/gallon(US) when driven in difficult terrain.

One of the top engineers on the job had a dispute with management and took copies of a good share of the design package with him when he left. It ended up at Lambo. We pronounced the name "Cheater" instead of Cheteah.

The origin of the XR311 name is kind of humorous. The M113 was FMC's main military product at the timem so when it came time to pick a name they used 113 backwards, added an R for recon
and an X for experimental.

Meisterburg was suprised to find Caddy Eldorado parts in the suspension. I hope they don't break on him like they did on us

The vehicle was too heavy and the off road useage too tough for the Caddy parts. That's no slam on the Caddy parts, they were just used as an expedient to get some prototypes built. The selection of HD off road independent suspension parts was just about non-existant then.
