You ever just give up on oil??? I came here and was hit with so much info that I have extracted what I need to sleep well at night for now and have withdrawn from oil for awhile...I still care about it, but I am to a point with the answers I have gotten on here that I think I am good for awhile before I begin having trouble sleeping...

Anyone else have this happen to where worrying about oil combined with all the other busy & unexpected things in your life becomes to much and then oil becomes the lest of your worries like 95% of the rest of the population for at least "awhile"?

Anyway, I am by no mean leaving, I am just having one of those moments and am glad I am in a "stable" position with oil knowledge & the oils I have in my garage and OCI's, etc, etc...

Why do i get the feeling that there will be people who are jealous you managed to get away?

If your comfortable, and you can sleep at night then, you've done your job researching everything properly IMO.

Just don't forget to come back!

I came for the oil, staying because of the people..

Much to learn.

I'm glad I have stable knowledge, too. I have no worries about my vehicle failing from an oil issue. So yeah, when things get stessful, I can forget about oil for a bit.

But when I'm in a good place, its actually a relaxing thing to think and plan about!

Yeah, I'm sick......

I have found that the only effective way of escaping the addiction and restored my life to some sense of normalcy is to start a flame war and get booted by the forum administrator.

Very well said and I agree 100%...things are stressful for me right now but I have M1HM 10w30 in my 178k 360 Jeep GC and Pennzoil HM 10w30 in my 4.0 Jeep with 77k...

and I am switching my Jetski from full-syn Pennzoil Marine 2-stroke oil to their Premium Plus Blend. And I have a whole case of Mystik 80w90 in my garage and am glad to have it to replace the RP over-priced mediocre gear oil. ANd finally, a case of Pro-tec filters (made by WIX), and a couple cases of trop-artic 10w30 in the garage.

I can let it go for a little bit, but I admit at times (as you said) it can be quite relaxing if life is going well...but I am upset Wal-mart quit carrying my MOPAR brand ATF+4 and all they have now are Valvoline full-syn & supertech.

Anyone ever use the supertec ATF+4 and mix it with the genuine Mopar stuff??? I guess I still had a loose-end LOL

I dont know about everyone here but i grew up learning how to take care of cars....detailing them, waxing them, putting quality oil in them, trying to figure out ways to maximize its performance etc etc...

i like a car that not only looks good but runs like a champ! so all this oil stuff is just part of the equation in how i tick...very small part of me to say the least.

of course all this oil stuff is on the very bottom of my list of priorities when it comes to family, health, wealth, work, and happiness. in no way does BITOG deprive me of sleep if i dont come visit often.

BITOG is not only fun reading but it's also free. free information.

When you start to think you have attained all the knowledge you need you are deceived my son.....

You can only say you have achieved true enlightenment and all knowledge when you can dip your finger into bowls of unmarked oil, taste it and tell us the brand and weight. Then my son...you shall be set free.

To prevent future panic attacks and grey hairs for all drivers...all automakers should think of having some sort of "Blackstone dipstick/lab analysis real time sensor for all fluids" built in all cars for oil, ATF, differential, coolant, windshield washer fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid etc.. This sensor will let you know every chemical detail and makeup and also take into consideration driving behavior and patterns and interpret it in real time.

NO MORE BITOG for me once this is invented.

The title of this post is " You people are sick"

Just a joke,
Althought this site is not all about oil,
it is still very useful and darn right funny!

Circa 1993 I'm walking around happy enough with my Castrol 20w50 in my rice choppers. Intrigued with lubrication but that's all. Then I'm at a christian conference with my best friend, and an Amsoil rep walks up and spins a tale of efficiencies and optimizations and a little bug crawled deep into my brain and lodged itself there.

I can take breaks from it, but have never ultimately left it since that fateful day. I think it's beginning to qualify as a lifetime hobby.

(my best friend has been an Amsoil rep to this day, but not as devout as I am. Haven't broke it to him that I do business with Gary Allan. Gary is devout. :)
