4Runner, Prado, GX470/GX460 and Landcruiser/LX470. Looking for a mechanic with decent experience on those. For somebody else.

Chances of somebody to chime in from that area is there but not that great.

Tell your friend to use apps/website like NextDoor which he/she can ask local people for a mechanics referral.
They need to sign up with their location or usually an address in a housing subdivision.
Then, they will have access to local people who may or may not know but at least they have a better chance.

Thank you very much, that was what I did. Nextdoor is a source of the most up to date and locally relevant referrals on a lot of things.

Correction: GX460 is a 150 Series vehicle, but it doesn't matter in this scenario.
