Yay or Nay: buying oil filter from Amazon

I quit buying oil filters on Amazon after the great Honda filter debacle..they were pretty good counterfeits, you would not have known unless you cut them open...some folks basically drove their Hondas with no oil filter ..for a long time if they bought a case. On a related note, my son got some counterfeit water line filters for his refrigerator on Amazon...i noticed they were very lightweight so i cut one open with a hack saw..basically nothing but a tube inside...lots of money to be made there since those things go for ~$50. So, I don't buy them on Amazon either.

bought a couple ACD filters on Amazon from the ACD store...brand new build dates and appear the same (but for the newer design-single base plate metal) as from anywhere else...

i believe it was "fulfilled by Amazon"...but I don't trust any of that kind of thing anymore. Some things you know you are rolling the dice on but I'm not willing to take the chance anymore on my cars or what i drink

As with all mail order stores, it is fine to shop Amazon if you allow sufficient lead time in case the shipment is unsatisfactory. If you absolutely need a part in a day or two, shop local so you can inspect before you buy.
