A synthetic 30 wt can often get a 10w30 rating. This is a true 30 wt oil getting a 10w rating. The xw rating is not of the base oil but a comparitive rating in low temperature flow characteristics.If you ever heard of Rotella in 30wt., it could get a 20w30 rating fairily easily. Add some vii's and now you got a 20w40. Work on the cold flow end and maybe 15w40. Here ypu get a xw rating of 15 with 30 wt oil. Xw-30 is 30 wt at 212 degrees F.
