Would you bother to replace the "gasket" in the cabin air filter assembly?

Surely it's nothing critical - never even noticed it was there - but when changing out the cabin air filter on the old Acura, it looked like some kind of foam gasket had *catastrophically failed*, or at least mostly disintegrated leaving an annoying number of tiny particles everywhere, some of which still followed a line around the inside perimeter of the filter assembly "door."

Is it in any way worth it to bother to replace the "gasket" on the filter plastic frame? Say with something at hand, a bead of RTV, an adhesive tape with felt or rubber, etc.

Thanks, everyone. Can't find a photo online yet, but from the debris looks like it could have been thinner than the weatherstripping on hand, but not a problem.

Out of curiosity, did check the part. The diagram makes it look like the replacement plastic tray comes with a filter too - if that's right, it's about $8 more than the Honda/Acura branded filter alone. (Some parts searches are pointing to a newer Honda part number, which presumably fits but looks different in detail, and just happens to be more than twice-the-price.)

Edit: found these similar Honda part pics. Not too surprised that cheap-looking light foam fell apart after 19 years.

If the original gasket is defective it may be best to remove the old gasket and stick weatherstripping on the new filter frame before installing the filter. Soft closed-cell foam would be best.
