Had a bunch of storm damage on several properties
Huge trees down. Figured my back would be broken again.
For the last several years nobody cared about wood. I cut it up and tossed it back into the woods.

Just had a guy knock on my door wanting to cut some of them.
Been getting tons of activity this year. I'm thrilled. If I had to pay somebody it would be crazy expensive.
Anybody else notice this?
They even want the small limbs and pine- lol

Lots of people don't have a job right now, I would bet that is the reason people are looking for some old school ways to make some money.
Agreed or to avoid buying fuel.

I have a friend who does it for exercise. He sells bunches of split wood for something like $50 per, but it seems to be the activity and exercise that’s most appealing to him.

Its common, make sure you specify if you want the trunk to take the limbs too.

People use it for firewood but (depending on the tree) lumber mills can buy various ones for sawdust, wood chips etc. The cellulose part is very valuable too.

If you hire uninsured unlicensed contractor and someone gets hurt you will be in legal trouble for many years to come.

They would have to bring suit against you and assert some sort of negligence or dangerous condition on your property that the average contractor would not expect to be there. Your homeowners insurer would be obligated to defend that suit. It will either go away, or more likely the insurer will reach a settlement for far less than requested by the injured party. Doubt it will put the homeowner in legal trouble for years.

Best to hire a licensed and insured contractor for any work, but not a death knell if you do it another way.
